Swiss International Air Lines is currently placing a focus on improving the products and services that are provided to the Business Class passengers who choose to travel with them. Currently, the airline is operating over 150,000 flights each year to a total of 74 destinations across the globe. In order to strengthen their position in the aviation market, the airline have revamped their Business Class product; the airline hope that this will ensure that they remain a firm favourite amongst Business Class passengers despite being a smaller sized airline in comparison to other airlines operating within Europe.
On-board the airline’s fleet of aircrafts they have introduced a brand new Business Class seat; the seat reclines to transform into a bed which measures 2 metres in length and allows guests to sleep comfortably on a surface which is fully horizontal. To increase the comfort level of each Business Class passenger, the seats are also built with a massage function integrated into them. The configuration of the Business Class cabins depends on the aircraft but is typically 2-2-1 or 1-2-1. This ensures that each passenger has greater leg room, easier access to the restroom, their own seat and the aisle. Each seat measures 52 inches in width and is adjustable in a variety of ways to ensure that passengers can determine the best position for their individual preference.
The airline recently launched their Singapore – Zurich route which is equipped with the new Business Class seat; the route is being served by the airline’s Airbus A340-300 aircraft. On-board the Airbus, the Business Class cabins feature both the 2-2-1 and 1-2-1 configuration for the 47 seats which are within each cabin. Swiss has kept the varied configurations in order to accommodate for different types of Business travellers – those who travel with a partner, those who are alone; those who are in a couple and those that prefer to work throughout their flight.
To complement the personalised service, Swiss also provide their Business Class passengers with a wide selection of in-flight meal offerings such as quick meals for those who want to snack on something light before arriving at their destination and five course meals that are served on the airline’s daytime flights for those passengers with more time and a bigger appetite. In between these meals, however, passengers can choose from a range of snacks to indulge in on-demand. On the airline’s long-haul services, those who are Business Class can experience both international and regional cuisine; a number of specialities are introduced to the Business Class menu regularly, depending on the season. Each dish has been created by some of Switzerland’s top chefs, allowing passengers to experience the delicacies of the country; each meal is also matched by a fine wine to create an atmosphere for passengers that resembles dining within a restaurant. Passengers who would prefer to sleep on the flight immediately can inform the flight attendants within the Business Class cabin so that a light meal can be served; this allows passengers to make the most of their time on-board the aircraft.
Finally, additional amenities are supplied to passengers to keep them refreshed and relaxed after a flight. On long-haul services, passengers in the Business Class cabin are provided with amenity kits that include ear plugs, socks, toothpaste, a toothbrush and a sleeping mask. As well as this, the Business Class lavatories are stocked with a variety of hand lotions and perfumes, whilst the amenity kits also include products for personal care from the Valmont of Switzerland brand. Additional items such as a nail file, lip balm, shaving kit, moisturising cream, a shoehorn, mouth wash and a comb are also available upon request.
Swiss Airline has created a service which means that Business Class travellers can have their every need taken care of throughout their flight and arrive at their destination refreshed, prepared and ready to go.
