China is a nation well-known for its wide variety of amazing food – Beijing is no exception to this. Book your trip to China’s capital city through SkyClub today.
If you’re visiting China’s capital city here are the top four dishes that we think you’d be crazy to miss:
Peking Duck
Its succulent nature has produced generations of dedicated fans. There are many places that offer this dish, so how do you know just which one to choose? We’d suggest the Dadong Restaurant – it’s the best one we’ve found yet! Not only does their location just North East of the Forbidden City make them the perfect place after a full day of exploring, the lusciously crispy duck is sure to keep you dreaming of them for days.
Gangou Potatoes
This city is famous for long winters and it’s during that time that you’ll find this tasty dish, most commonly on Ghost Street – Beijing’s own microcosm of world-class food. Gangou Potatoes are a hearty meal that won’t just warm up your insides but will leave you sighing in satisfaction. Cooked with crispy pork, chillies and onions in a large iron pot, the heavenly scent of this local favourite will have you going back for seconds (if not thirds).
Jiazi
Many people see a trip to China and Beijing as an opportunity to sample the authentic dumplings on offer. Those served in this part of the country are known as Jiaozi and are often stuffed with minced pork, leeks and ginger. If pork doesn’t appeal to you, you can pick a different meat to better suit your taste. There are countless places where you can pick up Jiaozi, but if you are looking for the best in town, we heartily recommend that you try some from Mr Shi’s Dumplings. Like many other family-run concerns in the city, the dumplings are often the only item on the menu, so you can rest easy that they will be of the highest quality.
Jing Jiang Rou Si
Sometimes when it comes to a good meal, simplicity ensures a flavourful experience. Jing Jiang Rou Si embodies this motto because it’s simply shredded pork cooked in a sweet bean sauce. Topped with green onions, it is often wrapped up in a flat-bread to create a neat little parcel of deliciousness.
If you’re looking for the perfect iteration of this dish, Jin Ding Xuan Restaurant is an eatery that many Beijingers trust to produce a first rate version.
