Orlando gets a lot of attention and it’s not all due to Disney World. There’s a reason Orlando is consistently named among the hottest markets in the US for business, and it’s because few states can match its competitive assets; an innovative business climate, unequalled market opportunity, top-ranked infrastructure, and a quality of life that’s envied by all.
Here’s what the fuss is all about and why you need to get a slice of the action by planning your next business meeting in the theme park capital of the world…
Access, Access, Access
With over 55 million visitors per year, Orlando has perfected the art of inbound and outbound travel. The region is home to three international airports, including the third largest origin and destination airport in the US – Orlando International Airport. Fly direct daily from London Gatwick Airport on either British Airways or Virgin Atlantic. Benefit from BA’s fast track service at the airport, or arrive in style with Virgin Atlantic’s chauffeur service (when booked in ‘I’ class or above). If you need to make a stopover en route, let your SkyClub travel concierge do all the planning for you.
Orlando also has close proximity to two deep water ports, and extensive road and rail systems that connects the heart of the nation’s fourth most populous state to the rest of the country – all connectivity that’s invaluable for business.
Top Business Hub
According to Chief Executive Magazine’s 2015 ‘Best and Worst States for Business’ survey, the state of Florida has earned the recognition as the second best state in the US for business. With a hub like Orlando, it’s no wonder. Share the arena with some of the best in business, from Walt Disney to Glen L Martin, the city has a long history of entrepreneurial activity.
With unique resources such as the National Entrepreneur Centre and the University of Central Florida Business Incubation Programme, the city is among the top locations for innovative companies and entrepreneurs.
Working Holiday
Orlando’s central location in the Sunshine State means you can plan your meeting for pretty much any time of the year and enjoy warm weather. Hold power lunches in outdoor beach cafes, fit in a unique shopping experience in between conferences, or tie-up loose ends of a deal over a round of golf at one of the 1,300 courses in Florida.
Why not take the family with you and make it a working holiday? Orlando is home to unrivalled entertainment parks such as the famous Disney World, Universal Studios or, for a different type of flight experience, visit The Kennedy Space Centre. Pristine beaches, lakes, springs, world-class entertainment; the region’s amenities – natural and man-made – makes Orlando your one-stop destination for both business and holiday.
Power Dining
What better way to wheel and deal than over some fine food? Orlando offers a plethora of excellent cuisine to get those negotiation juices flowing. Whether you’re looking for a private banquet room to conduct an important meeting, or a quick lunchtime prix-fixe to entertain a client, you’ll be spoilt for choice.
One of our favourites for a daytime meal is at downtown Citrus Restaurant. Its ‘New American Cuisine’ boasts fresh food made from local and independent sources. A trendy crowd congregates here for power lunches and has even been voted ‘Best Power Lunch 2015’ by the Orlando Magazine Dining Awards 2015. Or, take a trip to Italy at award winning Adriatico Trattoria Italiana also in downtown Orlando. It’s the first and only Central Florida Italian restaurant recognised by the Italy-America Chamber of Commerce by awarding the distinctive Ospitalita Italiana Seal of Quality, which certifies authentic Italian Restaurants around the world – now that’s one way to impress a client!
Get Going
Orlando had it at ‘working holiday’ for us, but if you need more reasons to place this exciting trade hub on your list of business destinations, your personal SkyClub consultant will only be too happy to go through its many other benefits with you.
