Cathay Pacific has finally unveiled its new First and Business Class lounge at Heathrow, which will open its doors from December 7th, 2016. The lounge has undergone a spectacular renovation, meaning premium passengers will be able to experience greater comfort when flying from Terminal 3.
Designed by Studioilse, a renowned London-based design studio, the Heathrow lounge echoes the aesthetics of Cathay Pacific’s lounges at Hong Kong International Airport and enxcapuslates the airline’s brand ethos of “Life Well Travelled”. At 1,200 square metres it is 30% larger than its predecessor, featuring two distinct First and Business class zones as well as eight shower suites. Renovations began back in November 2015 and the lounge was due to open in June, but delays in construction meant that the opening had to be pushed back to the end of 2016.
Inside the new lounge, guests can enjoy panoramic views of the apron and northerly runway through the floor-to-ceiling windows, while relaxing in bespoke Solo Chairs.
The main aspect that makes the First and Business Class areas different from each other is the dining options: First Class passengers can enjoy fine and made-to-order dishes in The Dining Room, or pick up grab-and-go snacks in The Pantry. Meanwhile in the Business Class area customers can order authentic Chinese delights in the Noodle Bar or Western and internation dishes in The Food Hall. There’s also a full-service bar where customers can enjoy a pre-flight glass of champagne.
Another highlight of the lounge is The Bureau, which provides a quiet space for those who need to catch up on work. Decorated with an abundance of plants and artwork by noted Chinese artist Han Feng, this area of the lounge provides a relaxing, stress-free environment.
Cathay Pacific General Manager Product James Evans said: “At Cathay Pacific, we care about our passengers’ experience at every stage of their journey – from the moment they arrive at the airport until they reach their destination – and our exciting new Heathrow lounge was designed to enable our customers to travel well. Our aim was to provide our passengers with a tranquil haven to relax before boarding their flights to Hong Kong and we hope our customers are as enthusiastic about the new lounge as we are.”
Cathay Pacific flies between Hong Kong and Heathrow five times a day, more than any other airline. Some lucky customers are able to experience the lounge during the soft launch, but it will officially open to First and Business Class passengers, Silver or above Marco Polo Club members, and Sapphire or above oneworld members from December 7th. Opening hours are from 5:30am from Monday to Saturday and 7:30am on Sunday until 10:30pm. To learn more about the lounges, watch Cathay Pacific’s video on YouTube.
