American Airlines has opened a newly-renovated Flagship Lounge and new Flagship First Dining at New York John F. Kennedy International Airport. The improvements are part of a $200 million investment in the luxury travel experience, with new and renovated Flagship lounges to open at Chicago O’Hare, Dallas Fort Worth, Los Angeles, London Heathrow, Miami and Philadelphia in the coming months.
Flagship Lounge at JFK
The Flagship Lounge at JFK is now larger, featuring quiet rooms, individual work pods and showers. Customers will be able to enjoy a range of food options including a hot and cold food buffet, an a la carte dining menu and a chef’s table with a rotating menu of made-to-order dishes. Guests can pair their meals with premium wine and champagne or prepare something stronger at the “make your own cocktail” station.
American’s flagship lounges were previously available to First Class customers, but now Business Class customers traveling on qualifying international and transcontinental flights will also have access.
Brand New Flagship First Dining
Customers travelling in First Class will now have exclusive access to a separate “Flagship First Dining” area, located within the Flagship Lounge. The sit-down restaurant experience will offer customers complimentary, full-service dining with locally-inspired menus.
The JFK menu will include ingredients from local suppliers including cheese from Sprout Creek Farms and grass-fed beef from Joyce Farms. The grass-fed beef will be used in American’s signature Flagship Burger, which will be available at all of AA’s Flagship First Dining locations. Customers can enjoy specialty cocktails designed by renowned New York mixologist Pamela Wiznitzer and hand-selected wines from master sommelier Desmond Echavarrie.
American plans to add Flagship First dining this year at Miami and Los Angeles, and later at Dallas Fort Worth and London Heathrow.
Kurt Stache, Senior Vice President, Marketing, Loyalty and Sales, said: “Customers in the Flagship Lounge and in Flagship First Dining will enjoy elevated service throughout their trip,” said . “We already provide the best premium in-flight experience among U.S. airlines. Now we’re thrilled to unveil our remodeled Flagship Lounges and to be the first U.S. airline to offer top-of-the-line dining in the airport. We are proud of our Flagship experience and we hope our customers will agree it’s the best product out there.”
Flagship First Check-In
In addition to the Flagship First Dining experience, customers travelling on qualifying international and transcontinental itineraries can start their journey with Flagship First Check-In, an exclusive check-in area in JFK’s terminal 8 and other airports.
Customers will be greeted by dedicated Premium Customer Service representatives who will assist with check-in and escort them to an expedited security line, helping them get to the Flagship Lounge faster. Flagship First Check-In is also currently available at Chicago O’Hare, London Heathrow, Los Angeles, and Miami, with plans for it to be added at Dallas Fort Worth.
