Austrian Airlines is to launch a new route to Cuba’s capital, Havana as of 25 October, 2016. The new tourist destination will be serviced once a week on Tuesdays operated by a Boeing 767-300ER.
The largest city in the Caribbean, Havana will be added to Austrian’s winter schedule. It will be the first time the airline will include a Caribbean destination to its flight portfolio in five years, the last being to Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic back in 2010.
Andreas Otto, Chief Commercial Officer for Austrian Airlines commented, “2016 is the year in which Austria and Cuba celebrate 70 years of bilateral ties. We are pleased to link our new direct flight to Havana with this anniversary. The launch of flight service to Cuba is another step in the consistent expansion of our long-haul route portfolio and our continuing focus on tourist destinations.”
Outbound flight OS023 will depart Vienna on a Tuesday at 1015 and arrive into Havana at 1625, whilst inbound flight OS024 will depart Havana on a Tuesday at 1810 and arrive back into Vienna at 1050 the following day.
The Star Alliance airline member will also add a daily service to Shanghai, Pudong from April 4, 2016 which will be operated by a Boeing 777-200ER.
