Are you named Harry, Meghan or Megan? If so (and you happen to be flying out of Heathrow Terminal 5 on May 19th, the day of the Royal Wedding) then you and your travel companions will be able to enter the British Airways First Class lounge, accessed through the exclusive First Wing. No matter what class of travel you’re travelling in, you’ll be able to experience the full VIP treatment – an opportunity usually only reserved for First Class passengers.
BA will also be handing out lemon and elderflower Victoria sponges – the same flavour as Harry and Meghan’s wedding cake – to passengers departing from Heathrow.
If that’s not enough, flight BA93 on May 19 to Toronto – the city where their relationship took off – will be operated by a team of 10 Meghans and Harrys.
The crew, made up of two Harry’s, seven Megan’s and one Meghan, will operate the flight that departs Heathrow at 1.10pm, an hour after the couple say ‘I Do’ at Windsor Castle. Senior First Officer, Harry Blake, will be behind the controls of the flight deck, alongside the Captain.
If you happen to be travelling on this flight to Toronto, you’ll be able to enjoy extra champagne to toast the newlyweds and the Royal cabin crew will hand out personal bottles of Castelnau Blanc du Blanc for each passenger to enjoy alongside their individual slice of wedding cake.
Megan Horsley, British Airways Customer Service Manager, who will lead the crew, said: “Harry and Meghan’s relationship started across the Atlantic so it seemed fitting for all of us to take-off to Toronto on their special day. I’ve flown with another Megan once or twice before, but never seven so we might have to all call each other by our surnames during this very special flight!”
Throughout the month of May, customers travelling on long-haul flights will be able to watch episodes of the Toronto-shot TV series Suits (the TV show Meghan Markle starred in) and enjoy documentaries about the history of Windsor Castle, as well as Harry and Meghan’s love story.
Long-haul travellers who miss the live event on television will also be able to catch up on board, as the wedding highlights will be available the following day.
