British Airways is opening its new First Wing at the beginning of April and has given us a glimpse of what it will look like.
The new First Class lounge, located at London Heathrow Terminal 5, features five key improvements including a bespoke design, greater privacy, enhanced space, a dedicated security lane and an exclusive entrance.
BA partnered with award-winning London designers Universal Design Studio to create the First Wing, which features stylish oak marquetry and a glass and mirror ‘chandelier wall’.
First Class customers will enter the First Wing through a scalloped steel and glass enclosure, with the centrepiece carrying the iconic BA coat of arms. At the entrance, premium hosts are on hand to offer the highest standards of service.
Once inside the First Wing check-in area, premium passengers will be guided to a new, spacious security channel, offering premium finishes. From there, passengers can directly access the Galleries First lounge and the Concorde Room. The check-in area will be 250% larger than it was before.
As they enter the lounge passengers will walk past a 29 metre-long curved, metallic wall that keeps the whole area feeling exclusive and very private. The First Wing also boasts a new, more spacious seating area, and includes armchairs, marble- topped side tables and bespoke leather banquettes.
Hannah Carter Owers, Director of Universal Design Studio says: “We took our cues from the British Airways First cabin, bringing texture, warmth and luxury to Terminal 5. Incorporating elements of BA’s design heritage gives The First Wing a bespoke, crafted feel.”
