British Airways has opened a new lounge at Aberdeen airport as part of its £4.5 billion investment plan. Located within a new extension of the airport, the lounge covers a space of 380 square metres and boasts various zones to meet all customers’ needs.
This is the second lounge to be opened under BA’s new design concept after a new lounge was unveiled at Rome’s Fiumicino Airport last month.
The lobby has been designed so that customers travelling through the lounge quickly can grab a quick bite to eat before they head off for their flight. Meanwhile those who have more time to kill before their journey can kick back and relax in seating overlooking the runway.
Similar to the airline’s new lounge in Rome, the main focal point of the lounge is the granite topped bar, where customers can enjoy a drink from a wide range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages on offer. Passengers travelling on morning flights will be able to enjoy local delicacy, Aberdeen Rowies, which will be on offer for breakfast.
The lounge features bespoke furniture, feature walls, lighting and marble topped tables, along with local artwork from the airline’s Art Collection. Guests can marvel at ‘The Long Winding Shores’ by Maddie Rose Hills, which is inspired by Kinlochewe in the Scottish Highlands.
Sarah Klatt-Walsh, British Airways’ Head of Product, said: “Our new design concept has been created to make better use of the space in our lounges, while still making it feel contemporary and luxurious. We have focused on technology, offering complimentary WiFi and ensuring there is plenty of access to USB and power points, enabling customers to work, surf online and charge personal devices.
“We have already had really positive feedback from customers who have experienced our new lounge in Rome, and we think those travelling through Aberdeen will love the new look and feel.”
British Airways plans to open a series of lounges under this new concept. The next will be at New York JFK Terminal 7, followed by Geneva, San Francisco, Johannesburg, Chicago and Heathrow.
