The first British Airways flight to The Seychelles landed at Mahé International Airport on Sunday March 25th, marking the start of a new direct service from London Heathrow Terminal 5. The airline is the only carrier to offer non-stop flights from the UK, meaning customers no longer have to make a stop in the Middle East, enabling them to reach one of the world’s most exotic holiday destinations much more easily.
Initially meant to be a seasonal service, BA has now announced that the flights are set to move to year-round, with two flights per week every day of the year.
Customers get to enjoy the airline’s newest aircraft, the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, which features four cabins including Club World Business Class and an eight-suite First Class cabin. Flights depart on Wednesdays and Saturdays and have been timed so that passengers can enjoy paradise for longer, booking 10 night trips to extend their break.
Situated in the Indian Ocean, the Seychelles is an archipelago of 115 islands, offering crystal clear waters, beautiful beaches and coral reefs that are perfect for snorkelling and diving. Visitors can easily island hop, taking in the larger islands such as Mahé and Preslin, as well as some of the smaller and more untouched islands.
These idyllic islands are incredibly popular with honeymooners, families and sun worshippers who are looking for a luxury beach break. The weather is usually sunny and warm all year round, although British summertime (June-September) is the most popular time to visit, when the weather is drier and less humid. November to April tends to be wetter and more humid, but still with plenty of sunshine.
British Airways’ Richard Tams said: “The Seychelles is called the ‘land of perpetual summer’ and the route has proved so popular with our leisure customers that we are delighted to start serving the destination year-round.”
