Cathay Pacific has revealed it will launch a weekly service from London Gatwick Airport to Hong Kong commencing on the 2nd of September 2016. The service will run four-times per week (government approval pending) and will make Cathay Pacific the only airline that will operate a direct flight between Gatwick and Hong Kong.
The new service will run parallel to Cathay’s existing service from Heathrow which operates five times per day. The two services combined will bring the total to 39 Cathay Pacific flights between the two cities.
Operating from Gatwick’s South terminal, the new route will be serviced by an Airbus A350- aircraft configured in a three-class seating system – Business Class, Premium Economy and Economy.
Neil Glenn, Cathay Pacific’s general manager Europe, commented, “Cathay Pacific has been flying between London and Hong Kong for 35 years and our commitment to the UK market remains strong.
“We are delighted to launch a non-stop service from Gatwick to Hong Kong, using our new state-of-the-art A350 aircraft, which will help meet increasing demand for both business and leisure travel between the Asia Pacific region and the UK.”
He also added, “These additional flights between London and Hong Kong will provide our passengers with greater choice and flexibility and, at the same time, continue to boost Hong Kong’s standing as an international aviation hub.”
