Cathay Pacific has revealed it will be opening a brand new lounge experience called “The Deck” at Hong Kong International Airport from 22nd March.
Located close to gate 16 at Terminal 1, the 823 square-metre lounge will feature an open-ceiling verandah, panoramic views of the apron and a “contemporary living room” environment. The space has been designed in the signature style of Cathay Pacific’s award-winning lounges in Hong Kong and offers seating for 180 passengers. Designer furniture, natural materials, greenery and artworks by local artists make the lounge feel like a welcoming place to unwind.
Cathay Pacific Chief Customer and Commercial Officer Paul Loo said: “The Deck builds on the formula that has made our other new lounges around the world so popular with our customers.
“Investing in experiences that our customers value and consider important is at the heart of our product and service philosophy, and helps us differentiate ourselves from any other airline. We look forward to welcoming the lounge’s first passengers.”
As with all of Cathay Pacific’s lounges, The Deck will feature a Main Lounge with self-service offerings, as well as a Noodle Bar, which is a favourite amongst guests. Passengers can choose from a selection of local classics, including wonton noodles in a hearty broth, fish ball noodles and a variety of dim sum and buns. Ready-to-order Asian delights, such as dan dan noodles and Japanese-style vegetarian noodles, are also available.
The Terrace
The main difference that sets “The Deck” apart from the other lounges, is the fact that it sits on a balcony on the eastern side of the terminal building. Passengers can relax on The Terrace, an open-ceiling L-shaped verandah featuring both table and individual seating. From here passengers can enjoy panoramic views of the airport’s apron, taxi-ways and northern runway whilst enjoying a drink and something to eat.
Other felicities include a relaxation room zone with bespoke Solo chairs and eight shower suites where passengers can take a shower before they board the plane.
The Deck will join several Cathay Pacific lounges at HKIA – including The Bridge, The Pier Business and First Class lounges, The Wing Business and First Class lounges and The Arrival. The airline has announced that “The Cabin” will close on 30 April.
