From March 1st Delta will be serving food from New York’s Museum of Modern Art in its Delta One cabins. Business Class passengers travelling on select trans-Atlantic routes to Europe, and transcontinental flights from New York JFK to Los Angeles and San Francisco, will be able to enjoy seasonal, modern American cuisine from Chef Dan Jackson of Terrace 5 and Café 2.
His meals blend flavors from Italy, India, and even his home state of North Carolina, appealing to international and local MoMA visitors. Highlights include Curry Braised Chicken Leg with Basmati Rice, Smoked Short Rib with Barbejus, Potato Puree, Swiss Chard and Tomato Jam as well as Baked Cavatelli with Wild Mushroom, Swiss Chard and Parmesan.
“When designing the menu for Delta, I was inspired by the varied culinary palettes of global travelers,” said Chef Jackson. “I’m excited for Delta One customers to get a taste of the flavors and ingredients that I feature at MoMA on a daily basis.”
Chef Jackson will create breakfast, lunch and dinner menus for Delta One, and select items will refresh on the first of each month from March 1 until May 31.
The dishes will be prepared in the Union Square Events kitchen in Manhattan and delivered to JFK to be boarded on Delta flights.
Delta’s partnership with Cafes at MoMA is part of a program of seasonally-rotating menus designed by its chefs. Past rotations include a winter menu from Maialino and a fall menu from North End Grill.
To ensure customers flying on other routes aren’t left out, Delta is also introducing the flavours of spring on board in its First Class and Delta One cabins throughout its network.
The airline also recently introduced a new range of wines hand picked by Master Sommelier Andrea Robinson. Delta One’s cellar in the sky will include six Argentine wines, two Chilean, two selections from Portugal, one from Italy and one from Spain, as well as three selections from France. South American wines feature heavily on the menu, reflecting a popular global trend.
From March to May, business class passengers can try an Argentine chardonnay Catena High Mountain Vines from Mendoza and a limited edition Carmenere and Chardonnay from Chile.
