Emirates has announced that one of its daily services between Dubai and Melbourne will now go direct instead of stopping at Kuala Lumpur en route. The new non-stop flight will save passengers approximately two and a half hours flying time in each direction.
Emirates offers a total of four daily flights from Dubai to Melbourne with codeshare partner Qantas, three of which are operated by an A380 aircraft.
The only service not to be operated by the A380 is EK408/EK409, which is operated by a Boeing 777-300ER. The aircraft is fitted with 3 cabin classes including both First and Business Class, so passengers can experience Emirates’ award-winning premium service.
First Class passengers can travel in their very own Private Suite, which features a seat that converts into a fully flat bed, along with a vanity table, mirror and personal mini bar. The provided amenity kits are designed by Bvlgari, while gourmet cuisine is served on Royal Doulton bone china.
From 30th October 2016, flight EK408 will depart Dubai at 03:00hrs and arrive in Melbourne (MEL) at 23:20hrs. The return flight, EK409, will leave Melbourne at 06:00hrs and land in Dubai (DXB) at 13:05hrs. There will also be two non-stop services from Dubai to Melbourne on Emirates and one non-stop flight on a Qantas aircraft. This is alongside one daily Emirates A380 flight between Dubai and Melbourne that will continue to operate via Singapore.
Together, Emirates and Qantas operate 91 flights per week to Australia from Dubai. Of these 91 flights, 77 of these are Emirates services, which operate to and from Brisbane, Perth, Melbourne, Adelaide and Sydney, including six daily A380 flights.
Although Emirates has stopped flying via Kuala Lumpur on its route between Melbourne and Dubai, passengers wishing to travel to Malaysia’s capital city can do so on Emirates’ three daily flights to Kuala Lumpur from Dubai. Two of these are operated by a 777-300ER and one by an A380.
Emirates is currently working with travel agents and tour operators regarding alternative travel plans for passengers booked for travel to Kuala Lumpur on the EK408 or EK409 services after 30 October 2016.
