Emirates have revealed that they have taken delivery of their new 43rd and 44th Airbus A380 aircrafts with First and Business Class cabins. The airline has received the double delivery of the popular double-decker aircrafts from the Airbus’ Finkenwerder factory that is situated in Hamburg, Germany.
The President of Emirates Airlines, Tim Clark, has discussed the Airbus A380 aircraft, explaining that their customers enjoy travelling using the A380 – particularly premium passengers. The aircraft has become a preference due to its spacious cabin layout which is located on the main deck of the aircraft, to the overall quieter cabins, as well as the additional facilities that are available to First and Business Class cabins which include an on board shower spa and an on board lounge designed for drinks and mingling.
Mr. Clark went on to explain that the Airbus aircraft has been packed with a load of in-flight products and comforts making it a truly beautiful aircraft for premium passengers. “From an operator standpoint, the A380 is still one of the most fuel efficient aircraft per seat. It offers us some flexibility in range and also helps us to meet demand at slot-constrained airports,” Mr. Clark added.
The airline is continuing to make improvements to the aircraft, as is the manufacturer themselves in order to deliver better on board products but also to meet the demands from premium travelers for additional routes and comfort when flying. For example, the most recent Airbus A380 aircrafts have been fitted with high definition LCD television screens that are much bigger than their predecessors in order to enhance the in-flight entertainment experience that is available to passengers on board the aircraft. In addition to this, the airline has also introduced a new host of tablets which are touch screen and enable passengers to make movie selections and even control the function of their seats with just one touch. Mr. Clark has said that these are ‘small details, but all these add up to provide a great flying experience.”
The airline’s 43rd and 44th Airbus A380 aircrafts are configured with three classes that include both a First Class and Business Class cabin. The First Class cabin is equipped with 14 luxurious seats whilst Business Class is equipped with 76 seats that offer Business Class passengers the perfect space to work or relax in. The remaining cabin – Economy Class – is home to 427 seats. However, the aircraft that will be operating to Auckland will only have 399 seats in Economy Class. Initially, these aircrafts will be operating on flights to Munich and Munich.
Emirates currently operates the largest fleet of Airbus A380 aircrafts in the world; it was the first airline to place an order for the aircraft way back in 2000 and now operates one in three of the total of them that are currently in the skies. In 2014, the airline expects to receive 13 more of the aircrafts, however, there are still a total of 96 of the aircrafts on order, with 71 of these expected to be received by Emirates over the next few years before 2018 ends.
Emirates have a dedicated Airbus A380 terminal which operates from its hub in Dubai; the airline provide an extensive network of destinations which span from Auckland to Los Angeles, demonstrating the reach of the airline and the range of flights that the airline operate with their Airbus A380 fleets. The A380s fly three times per day directly into Auckland and to Dubai via Australia. The airline launched their Los Angeles – Dubai service at the start of this month; this is the longest flight that the airline operates non-stop – the shortest is between Hong Kong and Bangkok.
Some of the destinations that the airline currently operates with an Airbus A380 aircraft includes Shanghai, Beijing, Hong Kong, New York, Toronto, Amsterdam, Brisbane, Los Angeles and Kuala Lumpur.
