Emirates is trialling an immersive cinematic experience in its First and Business Class lounges at Dubai International Airport. The airline will provide Skylights theatre headsets to customers visiting the Business Class lounge in Concourse B in April. The following month, customers in the First Class lounge will also be able to give them a try.
The introduction of the new headsets is part of the airline’s continued commitment to improve the customer experience both on the ground and in the sky. The new headsets will be an exciting new feature for premium customers who have time to kill on their stopover in Dubai.
Offering a fixed-screen with a wide-angle field of view for 3D and 2D content, each Skylight theatre headset weighs only 120g and offers a Full HD viewing experience. Passengers can enjoy a range of 3D & 2D movies, box sets, documentaries and 360-degree videos in a fully immersive experience with in-built sound and video.
Movie choices include Alien: Covenant; Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice; and Boss Baby, as well as episodes of documentaries such as Cosmos and Planet Earth.
Emirates says the service is complimentary and if the trial is successful, it will be rolled out across all Emirates lounges in Dubai. The carrier currently has a total of seven lounges spread over three concourses – A, B and C – with a dedicated First and Business Class lounge in each one. Entry is complimentary for those travelling in Business or First Class as well as Emirates Skywards Silver, Gold and Platinum members. Emirates Skywards Blue members can visit the lounge for a fee.
In addition to the immersive theatre experience, Emirates has also refurbished the Emirates Business Class lounge in Concourse B, which now features redesigned menu, a complimentary full bar service, shower facilities, a health spa, shoe shine service, cell phone charging stations, a wine cellar and dedicated children’s play areas. Guests will discover three distinct concept areas: a barista experience in partnership with Costa Coffee; a Health hub with Voss water featuring healthier food and beverage options; and an exclusive Moët & Chandon champagne lounge serving four distinct cuvées with special food parings.
