Japan Airlines has announced that it will introduce a new cabin configuration for its latest Boeing 787-9 aircraft. The new JAL SKY SUITE 787-9 (SS9Ⅱ) will be operated on the Tokyo (Narita) = Kuala Lumpur route starting 31st July 2017, and will be progressively expanded onto the other international routes.
Business Class will be retrofitted with the latest highly-reputed fully-flat seat “JAL SKY SUITE Ⅲ,” which was installed on the JAL Boeing 777-200ER aircraft last June. The current 787-9 (SS9) features 44 business class seats, but on the new 787-9 (SS9II) there will be a total of 52 seats.
Premium Economy Class will be equipped with “JAL SKY PREMIUM” seat, and Economy Class will be fitted with “JAL SKY WIDER” seat with 5 cm. increased seat pitch.
JAL SKY SUITE III
The new JAL SKY SUITE III seats will be arranged in a 1-2-1 configuration and are equipped with 17-inch entertainment screens, Universal PC power outlets, USB ports, and 4-stage adjustable LED lights. When fully reclined into a flat bed position, each seat measures 198cm long and 53cm wide. The arm rest on the aisle side is removable and has storage for small items, while the privacy partition is fully retractable to meet needs for both privacy and communication with a travel companion.
New inflight entertainment
A new inflight entertainment system – MAGIC-Ⅵ – will be introduced, offering over 300 movies, video and sound recording programs etc., centering on the latest movies and popular songs. Customers can enjoy entertainment intuitively with greater ease by swiping their fingertip on the seat monitor.
Cabin Lighting
LED cabin lighting on the 787-9 orchestrates the four seasons of Japan to create a relaxing atmosphere and feeling of Japan. The LED lighting can also be adjusted to suit the scene, such as providing comfortable surroundings to ensure a good night’s rest or to wake up feeling good.
