Boutique airline La Compagnie has announced it has placed an order of two ultra-modern Airbus A321neo planes. The airline, which has been operating all-business class flights between Paris and New York since 2014, is enjoying stable growth and therefore intends to expand its fleet of the next two years.
Due to be delivered in 2019, the A321neos will improve the business class experience for all, offering fully flat beds and the latest Wi-Fi connectivity to ensure passengers can stay connected across the Atlantic.
The three-year-old airline doubled its daily flights between Paris Charles de Gaulle and New York Newark last year and now plans to invest in more aircraft that are more in line with industry standards than its current Boeing 757s.
Laurent Magnin, CEO of La Compagnie, said:
“Since joining forces with XL Airways in 2016, we have progressively focused on optimizing our performance across all fronts. This year alone, La Compagnie has flown over 40,000 passengers, in which sixty percent were from the US and twenty-five percent frequent fliers. The purchase of two new Airbus A321neos, which are more in line with industry standards than our current fleet of Boeing 757s, is an important step in maintaining our unique position in the market as we continue to invest in our clients and evolve as a brand.”
La Compagnie says it chose French aeronautical firm Airbus as it strengthens the airline’s “French-in-spirit” philosophy.
“I’ve always been an advocate for the French industry,” said Magnin. “By selecting Airbus and its A321neo, we are able to illuminate our French touch while reinventing the La Compagnie experience. I am very proud to be the first French airline to employ this particular aircraft.”
The airline’s current Boeing 757s are outfitted with 74 lie-flat seats and feature thoughtful amenities including Samsung Galaxy Tablets, Caudalie cosmetic kits and a unique dining experience offering fresh menu items by renowned New York and Paris based chefs.
