It’s exciting times for Qatar Airways as the airline prepares to launch its ‘super business class’ suite in March. The highly-anticipated new product will be revealed by Airline CEO Akbar Al Baker at the annual ITB Berlin travel trade show, which begins March 8th.
So what do we know about the new Qatar Airways super Business Class?
Well, we’re promised that it will definitely be more of a suite than a seat, boasting a ‘business class bedroom’ and sliding doors. Mr Akbar Al Baker says that there is “really no need for First Class”, so instead the airline has focused on providing an revolutionary Business Class product with rumours of a double bed at Business Class fare.
First Class will be available only on the A380, and all other aircraft types will have just Business Class.
Qatar Airways plans to raise the bar for Gulf Carriers, with the new suite being both its Boeing 777-300ER and Airbus A350 fleets. The suite will be patented too, so other airlines won’t be able to offer this particular design.
Originally the global media launch was planned for November, but delivery schedules have caused delays.
Talking to Australian Business Traveller Mr Al Baker said: “I really feel that private suites become a bit claustrophobic, so when we are designing our new business class product we are making sure it is not claustrophobic.”
