Qatar Airways has announced plans to fly to Atlanta, Georgia, beginning with a one-off inaugural Airbus A380 flight before switching to a regular Boeing 777 service.
When Qatar Airways operates its maiden A380 on June 1st, this will be its first time bringing the superjumbo to the United States. The airline specifically chose Atlanta for this special occasion, since Georgia is its 10th US destination.
The A380 is arranged in a three-class configuration, meaning American passengers will also be able to experience the Qatar Airways First Class cabin for the very first time.
Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive, His Excellency Mr. Akbar Al Baker said: “Qatar Airways will inaugurate Atlanta, its tenth destination to the United States, in just a few weeks’ time and in honour of that, we wished to provide our passengers with a unique experience, in addition to the Airbus A350 and the Boeing 777 which are signature products that we currently fly across all our gateways in the United States.”
“The Qatar Airways A380 provides a memorable experience for our passengers, with a spacious double decker layout, refined finishings, customised interiors and convenient design. We look forward to welcoming our passengers to and from Atlanta on our inaugural flight on June 1, but also on every flight thereafter. We look forward to serving the global travel needs of the people of Atlanta.”
Business Class passengers are able to seamlessly connect to other destinations worldwide via Hamad International Airport in Doha, where they can relax in the Al Mourjan Premium Lounge. Designed to provide guests with a hotel-like experience, the lounge covers an expanse of 10,000 square metres, featuring a grand spiral staircase, comfortable ergonomic seating, a full a-la-carte restaurant, a continental style cafe and a state-of-the-art business centre.
On the regular service, passengers flying between Atlanta and Doha will be able to book Business Class or Economy Class on the Boeing 777-300ER. The airline has two versions of this aircraft – one with 48 Business Class seats and one with a lower density of 42 seats – although it is unclear which aircraft it will be.
Onboard the flight, Business Class customers can enjoy 78 inches of legroom, turn their seats into fully lie-flat beds and request meals at any time during the flight using the on-demand dining service. They can also sit back and stay entertained with AVOD systems featuring over 2,000 entertainment options from blockbuster movies, to leading video games and audio channels.
