SWISS opened its new First Lounge at Zurich Airport this week, featuring check-in facilities, its own security checkpoint, an à la carte restaurant and a barista bar serving a wide range of Swiss grappas and fruit brandies. The airline has also announced it will be launching an exclusive chauffeur service for inbound guests.
The 650-square-metre lounge, which is accessible via an escalator from the Terminal A departure concourse, is accessible to First Class travellers and HON Circle Members of the Lufthansa Group.
Guests can check in quickly and conveniently at the welcome desk, hand over their baggage and then pass through an exclusive security checkpoint before relaxing in comfort. Travellers who are departing in winter for a warmer, more exotic destination can deposit their coat free of charge in a lockable wardrobe facility.
SWISS designed the new lounge in the same style as its First Lounge in Terminal E, installing an oiled-oak parquet floor and Jura limestone walls, along with elegant furniture by Swiss designers such as Vitra and de Sede. Guests have access to lounge suites, a lounge club with inviting leather sofas, a business zone and a meeting room with a view of the apron area. Other highlights include a relaxation room with two loungers, and a smokers’ lounge with its own outside section and a choice of fine whiskies.
The centrepiece of the new SWISS First Lounge A is its extensive barista bar, where guests can try various speciality coffees and choose from over 100 Swiss grappas and further fruit brandies.
First Class visitors can dine with waiter service in the lounge’s à la carte restaurant or help themselves to food from the buffet area.
The new SWISS First Lounge A is primarily intended for guests who are departing on short-haul flights and is open daily between 05:30 and 22:30. Travellers heading to long-haul destinations will be taken directly by limousine from Lounge A to the SWISS First Lounge in Terminal E, which is the departure point for long-haul flights.
SWISS will also be offering an exclusive new chauffeur service this summer for First Class customers arriving in Terminal E, in Terminal B or at a remote aircraft stand. Customers will be collected from the aircraft door and taken directly to the relevant passport or security control in Terminal A or B.
